This is the basic research enquiry fee – the museum staff will check through all our archives and records for your ancestor and send you a report of our findings. If there are further scans of information we can send you, such as photographs, we will inform you as there will be an additional cost to produce these.
The consultation of multiple sources and the writing of the report takes some hours; the fee helps to support the museum’s staff costs and archive preservation work.
We receive far more inquiries than we can answer in a timely manner – you will receive an estimated timescale for report completion once we have received and logged your inquiry. Please do not chase the museum for progress as that simply delays things further. There is a 3-4 month delay on producing reports as staff are working on a number of other tasks as well.
