Opening Hours from 1st April 2022:
Tuesday to Friday – 10 am to 4pm (last entry 3.30pm)
Saturday and Bank Holidays 10:30am – 3pm,
including the Jubilee Holidays in June.
Entrance to the museum is free, though as a small independent museum we are always most grateful when visitors make a donation. There is a donation drum close to the entrance doors.
We are situated on the ground floor of Serle’s House (a lovely Georgian Building set back behind an ornate rose garden), on Southgate Street next to the Hotel du Vin, about 150 metres from the High Street in Winchester.
It is a 15 minute walk from Winchester Train station.
Parking can at times be a challenge in Winchester and parking near Serle’s House is no exception; we do sometimes have one or two spaces free, but sadly we don’t control the parking where we are and so cannot guarantee it. It’s best to email or telephone to ask first if you are planning a visit. The Sussex Street/Tower Street car park is the closest public car park. It is worth investigating the Winchester Park and Ride service; the nearest bus stops are either at the Train Station or Winchester High Street.
If you would like to find out more about a relative who served in the Royal Hampshire Regiment, this takes a few hours of research and, like most military museums, we ask for a donation towards our costs of £35. Further details can be found at our research page
We are always very happy to have visits by schools and local history groups particularly those who are interested in what their local people got up to while serving in the Army. If you would like further information please go to Group Visits.
