Victoria Cross

Introduced as the premier award for gallantry, available to all ranks, to cover all actions since the outbreak of the Crimean War in 1854.

A cross, with a lion standing gardant on the royal crown, with the words FOR VALOUR on a semi circular scroll. The reverse has a circular panel on which the date of the act for which the decoration was awarded would be engraved.

Originally Victoria Crosses were made from the bronze cannons captured from the Russians during the Crimean War; at other times, other captured cannons have been used.

This reproduction Victoria Cross Medal is made from bronze plated lead-free pewter. It is supplied on a crimson ribbon attached to a card with an image of troops landing on a Normandy beach on D-Day on the front and historical information on the reverse.

 

Military Cross

Originally awarded to Captains, Lieutenants and Warrant Officers of the army, it was subsequently extended to include equivalent ranks of the RAF when performing acts of bravery on the ground.

Obverse – Plain cross, crowned royal cypher in the centre. Reverse – Plain.

This reproduction Military Cross medal is made from silver plated lead-free pewter. It is supplied on a purple and white ribbon attached to a card with an image of a FE 2b being shot down by an Albatross DIII during the Battle of Arras on the front and historical information on the reverse.

 

Military Medal

Awarded to Non-commissioned Officers and men of the Army for individual or associated acts of bravery that did not merit the Distinguished Conduct Medal.

Obverse – Bust of George V. Reverse – Crowned royal cypher above the inscription FOR BRAVERY IN THE FIELD, enclosed in a wreath.
