1914-15 Star

This medal was awarded to those who saw service in any theatre of war between 5th August 1914 and 31st December 1915, other than those who already qualified for the 1914 Star.

After the first Battle of Marne thousands of miles of parallel trenches were dug along the western front . Trench warfare was necessary because of the power, speed and accuracy of the weapons on both sides would have made it impossible to fight a battle in the open.

This reproduction 1914-15 Star medal is made from bronzed lead-free pewter. It is supplied on a red, white and blue ribbon attached to a card with an image of a British tank crossing a trench on the front and historical information on the reverse.

British War Medal

Battle of the Somme (July-November 1916) was fought between British and German forces in Northern France. On 24th June 1916 the British started a massive bombardment. British troops advanced from their trenches with the loss of 60,000 men, 19,000 of them dead. The Battle of the Somme ended on 18th November with the allies having gained only a few kilometres.

This reproduction British War Medal is made from lead-free pewter. It is supplied on a blue, black, white and gold ribbon attached to a card with an image of British troops ready to charge ‘over the top’ on the front and historical information on the reverse.

Victory Medal

This medal was awarded to all services of the British armed forces that had already received the 1914 Star or 1914-15 Star and to those who received the British War Medal.

World war I (1914-18) was fought between the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. On the western front fighting was characterised by trench warfare where during an attack a few metres of ground were gained for an enormous cost in lives. Aerial warfare developed into bombing and air-to air combat. On November 11th an armistice was signed between Germany and the allies bringing the war to an end.

This reproduction Victory medal is made from 22ct gold plated lead-free pewter. It is supplied on a rainbow coloured ribbon attached to a card with an image of troops surrounded by mortar bombs on the front and historical information on the reverse.
